Community engagement is an increasingly important aspect of research, yet academic health centers struggle to measure it. UR CTSI researchers created and tested a community engagement assessment process to help academic health centers map, track, and bolster their efforts.

The URMC has been selected by the Association of American Medical Colleges to join a new health equity initiative to improve the health of communities nationwide. Combatting Native American Health Disparities by Engaging Communities

Shaela Maybee, B.S., health planner and grant coordinator for the Seneca Nation Health System, will visit URMC on November 18 to discuss how she used community health assessments to identify health disparities and unique needs of Seneca Nation communities. Under the ‘Good Health and Wellness in Indian Country’ grant she is working to develop policies and programs to promote community health.
