CTSI Fostered Development of Drug that Extends Effectiveness of HIV Therapy

2011 CTSI Incubator awardees have made new discoveries stemming from their Incubator project. A drug originally tested for its ability to treat HIV associated dementia, also surprisingly prolongs the effectiveness of HIV drugs and helps cells get rid of cellular “trash”, like viruses.

The URMC has been selected by the Association of American Medical Colleges to join a new health equity initiative to improve the health of communities nationwide. The UR CTSI’s devotion to community engagement and inclusion of diverse populations in health research were integral to URMC’s selection. 

New Trial Innovation Network Offers More Opportunities for Clinical Trials

Born out of the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Program, the Trial Innovation Network will facilitate and streamline the implementation of large, multi-site clinical trials. The network will offer assistance with all aspects of clinical trials as well as ample opportunity to be a part of existing clinical trials in the network or by proposing and leading a clinical trial through the network.
