Immune Modulators Have Mixed Results on COVID Pneumonia

In December of 2020, URMC researchers joined the large, national ACTIV-1 clinical trial testing whether immune modulator drugs can speed recovery for patients hospitalized with COVID. Though results are mixed, the trial provides many insights for future trials and pandemics.

A URMC concussion researcher credits the UR CTSI and the Trial Innovation Network with helping him connect with researchers across the country and be a part of this new grant to study prolonged concussion symptoms in 11- to 18-year-olds.

Trial Innovation Network: Learning and Growing

After its first round of proposal review, the Trial Innovation Network has approved 21 proposals and has made some changes to the proposal submission process. URMC faculty can submit proposals to receive services or consultations on their clinical trials through the network. Pending the results of consultations, clinical trials may eventually be fully implemented through the network.

New Trial Innovation Network Offers More Opportunities for Clinical Trials

Born out of the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Program, the Trial Innovation Network will facilitate and streamline the implementation of large, multi-site clinical trials. The network will offer assistance with all aspects of clinical trials as well as ample opportunity to be a part of existing clinical trials in the network or by proposing and leading a clinical trial through the network.
