Local K-12 students showed the University of Rochester Medical Center what health equity – or the lack of it – looks like to them in a recent art contest held by UR CTSI's Office of Health Equity Research. The contest was a first step toward building a relationship with the community – a crucial part of the Office's mission.

Health Equity Art Contest for Local K-12 Students

We are hosting an art contest for local students in grades K-12! Show us what health equity means to you through your artwork (paintings, drawing, photographs, etc.). By hosting this contest, we hope to spark enthusiasm and engage in meaningful conversations with students, parents and teachers about specific areas of health inequity we can address through our research.

Edith Williams Named Founding Director of the New Office of Health Equity Research

Edith M. Williams, Ph.D., associate professor of Public Health Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina, has been named the founding director of the Office of Health Equity Research, which is housed in the UR CTSI and is a crucial part of URMC’s Equity and Anti-Racism Action Plan. Williams, a Rochester native with decades of experience in health equity research, will take up the role on September 1.
