Strong Memorial Hospital
Strong Memorial Hospital (SMH) at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) has 35 operating rooms located over three floors. The entire department is stocked with the highest quality and most advanced technology necessary to meet the ever changing needs of health care. There are approximately 35,000 anesthetics conducted at SMH on a yearly basis. The Emergency Department as SMH is the only Level I trauma center in the region.
Highland Hospital
Highland Hospital is well known for its comprehensive orthopaedics services, women's services, nationally ranked geriatrics program, regional leading gastric bypass surgery center, extensive network of primary care physicians, newly renovated radiology department, medical/radiation oncology, cardiology, neurology, and much more.
Golisano Children's' Hospital
UR Medicine's Golisano Children’s Hospital is the area’s only children’s hospital, serving as the referral center for all seriously ill or injured children from the 17-county Finger Lakes region. The children’s hospital is committed to treating all children regardless of their family’s ability to pay.
The 132-bed children’s hospital is a part of the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions or (NACHRI), a database of over 160 children's hospitals, which offers information about public policy and child health trends. Golisano Children's Hospital is also one of 170 children’s hospitals affiliated with the nation-wide not-for-profit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH). 100 percent of all locally-made donations to CMNH work locally.
UR Medicine Orthopaedics and Physical Performance Center
The UR Medicine Orthopaedics and Physical Performance Center opened in 2023 and is the biggest, most comprehensive orthopaedic facility in the Northeastern U.S. This world-class, 330,000 sq. ft. facility provides specialized treatment for patients suffering from all types of bone and muscle conditions—from everyday sprains and strains to those needing complex restorative surgeries. Thanks to innovations in surgical procedures, pain management, post-operative care and rehabilitation, many people can have outpatient joint replacement and go home within a 24-hour period.
URMC Surgery Center
URMC Surgery Center (informally known as “Sawgrass”) was opened in 2009 and features 10 operating rooms and 3 procedure rooms which equipped with advanced technology for optimal care and spacious facilities for the comfort and privacy for patients. By housing roughly 10,000 outpatient cases per year, Sawgrass provides the greater Rochester area with an ideal setting for the ever-increasing demand for ambulatory surgical procedures.
URMC Pain Treatment Center
The Pain Treatment Center (PTC), also located at Sawgrass, provides a multidisciplinary approach to treating pain, including medical and interventional therapies, behavioral and psychological care, and rehabilitation. An additional 10,000 cases are conducted by the PTC on an annual basis.
Strong West
Strong West opened its doors in 2013 on the former Lakeside Memorial Hospital campus on West Avenue. The facility's services have grown quickly, creating a hub of UR Medicine health providers, including care offered by the Ambulatory Surgery Center staff, Imaging, Labs, UR Medicine Heart and Vascular, Primary Care, Orthopaedics, and the Wilmot Cancer Institute.
Additionally, a talented team from Emergency Medicine helped create a first-of-its-kind, offsite Emergency Room, a new model of care in New York state. Providing emergency coverage for the area was the No. 1 priority of UR Medicine, to ensure patients once cared for at Lakeside had access to vital health care services within their local community.
Noyes Memorial Hospital
Noyes Memorial Hospital is a 67-bed facility located in Dansville, NY. Here, a highly-trained team of physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals provide superb care for the surrounding community.

Gillies Library
Gillies Library is located within the Department of Anesthesiology and houses the administrative offices of the residency program along with computers, a small kitchen, a conference area with a large flat screen TV, and couches to relax.
Gillies Library boasts a small exhibit on anesthesiology history including artifacts, photographs and books.
