Message from the Director
Welcome To Our Program
Yanjie Qi, MD, FACS
Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics
Program Director of General Surgery Residency
The General Surgery Residency Program is designed to develop exceptional, well-rounded, and professionally sought-after leaders in surgery. Our integrated five-year training program offers exposure to a broad based surgical practice, complemented by both basic science and clinical research opportunities. Rochester’s residents achieve an unparalleled level of excellence in all aspects of the care of the surgical patient. All of our graduates are exposed to basic science, clinical investigation and a comprehensive practical experience, therefore providing patients with cutting edge surgical care.
I am proud to be a product of this residency program and honored to be one of its educators. The men and women who graduate from our General Surgery Residency Program are commonly recognized as being among the finest surgeons in the United States. In addition, the overwhelming majority of our graduates, who have sought subspecialty training, have been able to secure the most competitive fellowships in the country.
If there is anything you would like to know more about, or if you have any questions after examining the information that's provided here, please feel free to contact us. We appreciate your interest in the University of Rochester General Surgery Residency Program.
