Alumni often look to their educational institutions for information and support throughout their professional careers. From recent graduates, to retirees, to those considering a new position or rethinking their career path entirely, leveraging the University of Rochester network to its fullest potential is the best place to start.

Technologies and programs
Handshake is an amazing way for you to explore job and internship opportunities. Customizing your Handshake profile allows you to receive access to information that is relevant and timely based on your career interests and experiences. You can also apply for jobs, find relevant career articles, and sign up for networking events and workshops within Handshake.
Follow the instructions below to access your Handshake account:
- Go to http://rochester.joinhandshake.com
- Enter your current, active email address (gmail, yahoo, etc.) and click “I am a student/alumni”
- Click “Register New Account” and enter your information
- Once you have created your account, please email Eric Vaughn with the email address you registered with and your graduation year so we can approve it. In most cases, your account will be activated within one-two business days.
Post a job, postdoc, or internship on Handshake
- Create an account with Handshake at rochester.joinhandshake.com
- Once you account is approved, you can post positions. Select the “Jobs” tab on the left side of the navigation bar. This will bring up the Job Postings page.
- Next select “New Job” in the upper right-hand corner.
- On the job form, fill out the required fields and then select “Create Job” at the end of the form. Please fill out as many of the fields as possible to ensure the position shows up in as many searches as possible.
- Next, fill in the “Job Qualifications” to find matches with qualified students. Once you’re finished, select “Update Qualifications.”
- This will bring you to the job summary page, where you can review the information entered. The new job will show up on the Job Postings page after review and approval by a staff member. Submissions are evaluated by staff once daily.
myHub brings together eight critical areas, including writing services, alumni mentorship, events, fellowships and grants, research ethics, graduate student and postdoctoral groups, URBEST career services and internships.
