- UR researchers Michael Potchen and Sam Kampondeni from the Neuroradiology Division of Imaging Sciences are Co-investigators on an 84 million dollar NIH-funded study out of Malawi that will look at brief ventilatory support and hypertonic saline to improve survival in pediatric cerebral malaria. http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/story/news/local/campus/2017/01/31/84m-grant-extend-msu-researchers-malaria-study/97239150/

- The Imaging Sciences Fischer Research Award this year went to Dr. Sarah Mohajeri who will be going to Blantyre Malawi to study posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome in children with cerebral malaria.

Abigail Kroening, MD, an Assistant Professor of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, led a survey of 29 refugee parents, health providers and other community partners in Rochester on barriers to developmental screenings for young children. The results were published in August in the journal Pediatrics.
