American Heart Association Courses

Welcome to the American Heart Association Training page! Below is an outline of our course offerings.

Our Training Center is one of the few in the Rochester area that has active clinicians as instructors, with experience in both pre-hospital and in-hospital environments. Our classes are interdisciplinary and all courses are open to the public. Annually, we train over 2,000 people, and we look forward to helping you obtain your certification!

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Interactive HeartCode

  • Note: This is NOT the quarterly RQI certification. 
  • Features open, rolling enrollment.
  • An interactive, self-paced, and self-directed learning program designed for healthcare providers, completing all cognitive and psychomotor requirements for the American Heart Association ACLS Course
  • Interactive system is available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week; the estimated time to complete the course is 5-8 hours.
  • Cost: $255 for the course, plus $48 for the optional manual, paid only by credit card. 
  • Once the course has been activated there will be no refunds.
  • Our standard processing time for registrations is between 1 to 3 business days. After your registration has been processed you will receive an email with instructions attached.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor-Led

  • Teaches the skills of CPR for victims of all ages including ventilation a bag-valve-mask device, use of an AED, and relief of a foreign body airway obstruction
  • Course is designed for both initial certification and recertification of healthcare providers.
  • Cost: $80 for the course, plus $19 for the optional manual. Payment by cash, check, credit card, or 312 Requisition is accepted. Medical students at the University of Rochester have the course fee waived but are responsible for the cost of the manual. 
  • Note: If you're over 15 minutes late to the course, both entry and refunds will be denied. You will need to register and pay for a new course.
  • Register for this BLS Instructor Led course.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Interactive HeartCode

  • Note: This is NOT the quarterly RQI certification.
  • Features open, rolling enrollment.
  • Designed for experienced healthcare providers and people with previous CPR certification recognizing that these individuals have previous knowledge and skills
  • Course is centered on reinforcing rapid recall of step sequence during emergencies
  • Interactive system is available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week; the estimated time to complete the course is 1-3 hours.
  • Cost: $80 for the course, plus $19 for the optional manual. Credit card or 312 Requisition are accepted payments. Medical students at the University of Rochester have the course fee waived but are responsible for the cost of the manual.

Pediatric Advanced (PALS) Interactive HeartCode

  • Note: This is NOT the quarterly RQI certification.
  • Features open, rolling enrollment
  • An interactive self-directed learning program designed for healthcare providers, completing all cognitive and psychomotor requirements for the American Heart Association PALS Course
  • Interactive system is available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week; the estimated time to complete the course is 5-8 hours
  • Cost: $255 for the course, plus $57 for the optional manual, paid only by credit card.
  •  Once the course has been activated there will be no refunds. 
  • Our standard processing time for registrations is between 1 to 3 business days. After your registration has been processed you will receive an email with instructions attached.
