Optimizing Outpatient Treatments for Concussion
Despite a common belief that concussions are not treatable, multiple symptom-based treatments do exist.Since 2007, at least 6 consensus-based guidelines have been published recommending a variety of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions to treat the symptoms of concussion. With the assistance of the UR CTSI and of the CTSI Trial Innovation Network, we have established a consortium of outpatient concussion clinics across the US to collect concussion treatment and outcome data in a systematic fashion. This network is unique in its focus on treatments, and will address several critical gaps in our understanding of how treatments impact overall concussion outcomes.
