Transperineal Prostate Biopsy (TPBx) Model
Prostate biopsies are ultrasound-guided procedures done to remove tissue samples from the prostate to test for prostate cancer. The transperineal approach has grown in popularity over recent years, but its learning curve is higher than the transrectal approach.
The TPBx model is a tissue-like prostate that sits inside a frame of the lower body. The prostate is sectioned into colored zones which can be seen on ultrasound, allowing users to practice taking accurate and enemy spaced biopsies throughout the model. The lower body frame also allows users to practice manipulating the ultrasound probe and needle in a realistic manner
The TPBx model was recently showcased in a workshop at the 76th Annual Meeting of the Northeastern Section of the AUA
