David N. Herrmann, M.B.B.Ch.
Clinic Director
Dr. Herrmann is a Professor of Neurology and Pathology, who specializes in the diagnosis and management of peripheral neuropathies. He is Unit Chief of the Neuromuscular Unit, Director of the University of Rochester (UR) Peripheral Neuropathy Clinic, and Cutaneous Innervation Laboratory, the UR Inherited Neuropathies Consortium Rare Disease Clinical Research Center and Chief of the Neuromuscular Disease Center. He has a clinical and research focus in Charcot Marie Tooth neuropathies (CMT), including outcome measures and biomarker developments and clinical trials of new therapies.
Eric L. Logigian, M.D.
Neurologist
Dr. Logigian is Program Director of the Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship and Director of the EMG lab at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He also serves on the editorial board of Muscle & Nerve, a major neuromuscular journal. His research focus is primarily on electrodiagnostic methods for quantitative evaluation of patients with neuromuscular disorders particularly focal and generalized polyneuropathies. His clinical focus is in evaluation and treatment of patients with acquired polyneuropathies.
Patrick A. Curry, M.D.
Neurologist
Dr. Curry is the Associate Director of the EMG Laboratory at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland before earning his medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed residency in neurology and a fellowship in neuromuscular medicine at the University of Rochester.

Michael Stanton,M.D.
Neurologist
Dr. Stanton is Associate Professor of Neurology in the Neuromuscular division at the University of Rochester Medical Center. His clinical interests are in peripheral neuropathy and electrodiagnostic techniques. He is actively involved in teaching neuromuscular fellows in electrodiagnosis and peripheral neuropathy. He is co-investigator for the CMT database which characterizes the clinical and electrodiagnostic features of hereditary neuropathy. He has subspecialty board certifications in neuromuscular disease by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, and in electrodiagnostic medicine by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
Janet Sowden
Research Project Manager
Janet Sowden is the research project manager for the Inherited Neuropathies Consortium in Rochester, and coordinates Charcot-Marie-Tooth neuropathies studies. She is involved in the regulatory component of these studies, meets with patients to educate them about departmental research opportunities and conducts research study visits.
Cynthia J. Gibson, NP
Adult Nurse Practioner
Cynthia Gibson has worked in the Neuromuscular Disease Center since 1991. She provides care to adults with neuromuscular diseases and peripheral neuropathy. She has been involved in various research projects resulting in co-authorship of a number of articles and posters. Ms. Gibson earned her BS from D'Youville College in 1984 and a MSN from the University of Rochester School of Nursing in 1989. She is a Clinical Associate in the University of Rochester School of Nursing which includes being a preceptor for nurse practitioner students and lecturing on neuromuscular diseases in many forums. Cynthia is a member of the New York State Nurse Practitioner Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, American Association of Neuroscience Nurses and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She is a certified Adult Nurse Practitioner and Rehabilitation Registered Nurse.
Debra Guntrum, FNP
Adult/Child Nurse Practioner
Debra Guntrum has worked in the Neuromuscular Disease Center since 2000. She provides care to children and adults with neuromuscular disease and peripheral neuropathy. She has been involved in research in the unit as well. Ms Guntrum received her BNS from SUNY Brockport in 1993 and her MSN from the University of Rochester School of Nursing in 2000. She is a Clinical Associate in the University of Rochester, School of Nursing and has lectured on neuromuscular disease in many forums. She has worked with nursing students, teaching them about neuromuscular disorders. Debra is a member of the New York State Nurse Practitioner Association, Greater Rochester Chapter.
Heather Romeiser, NP

Alicia Gotcsik, CO, CPed
Staff Orthotist, University of Rochester: Orthotics and Prosthetics Department
Alicia has been in the O&P career field for nearly 24 years, gaining her initial exposure and training in Orthotics in the United States Air Force. She received her Pedorthic education at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2000. She is both a Certified Orthotist and Pedorthist by ABC (American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics). Currently, she is part of a team approach to patient care by working with a group of foot/ankle orthopedic surgeons, attending their weekly clinics at the University of Rochester (NY), where she employed as a Staff Orthotist. Also, she works with the CMT and Inherited Neuropathy Clinic at the University of Rochester to help ensure seamless, “one stop-shopping” in orthotic care, in order to be more considerate of patients’ time and work disruptions. She is involved in the Rochester community by helping to organize and staff the Special Olympics Games’ Fit Feet Clinic and has volunteered her time at a local homeless shelter Foot Care Clinic. She has assisted in research and development for Donjoy Orthopedics, Ithaca College Physical Therapy Program and Gait Lab.
Katy J. Eichinger, Ph.D., D.P.T.
Physical Therapist and Clinical Evaluator for Clinical Trials
Dr. Eichinger is involved in the clinical care of adult and pediatric patients with neuromuscular diseases. Additionally, she is part of the neuromuscular research team and is involved in natural history studies and clinical trials for patients with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, myotonic dystrophy, and facioscapulohumeral dystrophy. Her interests are in outcome measures, health and wellness, and balance. She has been involved with clinical evaluator training and assisted in preparing the manual for the pediatric assessment for the CMT natural history study. Her interests are in outcome measures, health and wellness, and balance.
Jordon Bontrager, M.S., C.G.C
Certified Genetics Counselor
Jordan Bontrager is a certified genetic counselor, and joined the Neuromuscular Disease Center in 2020. She graduated with her Masters of Science degree in medical genetics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2016. Her background includes clinical and laboratory genetic counseling focused on neurologic and metabolic disease. Currently she provides genetic counseling for adults and children evaluated in the MDA, ALS and inherited neuropathy clinics.
