Welcome to the Center for Neuromodulation
The International Neuromodulation Society defines neuromodulation as: "the alteration of nerve activity through targeted delivery of a stimulus, such as electrical stimulation or chemical agents, to specific neurological sites in the body."
The University of Rochester Medical Center is the only institution in the region able to provide state of the art treatment for neurological conditions considered medically intractable, such as Parkinson’s and Neuropathic pain conditions.
Our center, composed of Neurosurgeons and Pain Medicine experts are highly trained on interventions such as DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation), SCS (Spinal Cord Stimulation), Dorsal Ganglia Stimulation as well as Intrathecal Infusion Therapy.
The Center is actively pursuing research in the field of Neuromodulation, in particular SCS for failed back surgery syndrome and other neuropathies.

- For patients with chronic pain requiring medical management, we provide ongoing, collaborative management and treatment plans, and will coordinate the plan with the referring provider, to enhance continuity of care.
- New referrals are expedited upon physician request.
