A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Dr. Shamaskin is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She completed her residency at the University of Rochester and served as a Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at Highland Hospital. Before joining the Pulsifer group in 1995, she served as co-director of Medical Education at The Genesee Hospital and later as Medical Director of Genesee Hospital's Emergency Department. Dr. Shamaskin is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Shamaskin's professional interests include preventive medicine and medical education. She and her husband have three daughters.
