Dr. Amanda Laprime is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the University Of Rochester Medical Center. Dr. Laprime is the Director of the Intensive Behavior Time, an enterprise-wide behavioral consultation service for patients with neurodevelopmental disorders in medicine, pediatrics, and psychiatry. Dr. Laprime also leads the pediatric BERT (Behavior Emergency Response Team), advises the Behavioral Health Champion Group, and leads the IDD Behavioral Task force and Complex Discharge Delay task force. She serves as the PI on a state-wide grant to train inpatient and ED nurses on caring for patients with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, as well as additional initiatives intended to build capacity for medical and community providers to serve those with behavioral health challenges and IDD. Dr. Laprime’s research focuses on the treatment of severe behavior, increasing health equity in medical environments, and system-wide approaches for serving patients with complex needs. She serves as a committee member for the OPWDD DDAC, and as a member of the public policy committee for the National Council of Severe Autism. She is a part-time lecturer for Northeastern University, and a subject matter expert for the BACB. Dr. Laprime has been invited to speak nationally about issues related to crisis care and systems analysis for individuals with autism spectrum disorders who experience overutilization of psychiatric and hospital services. She has published in several journals and presents regularly at regional and national conferences on system-wide challenges for those with complex behavioral needs.
