Dr. Ravina is an Associate Professor of Neurology, the Director of the Movement and Inherited Neurological Disorders (MIND) Unit, and the Associate Director of the Clinical Trials Coordination Center (CTCC) at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. After obtaining his MD from Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Ravina completed residency training in Neurology and a Fellowship in Parkinson's disease and Movement Disorders at the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, Dr. Ravina completed a two year Masters in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics program at the University of Pennsylvania Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics. After training, Dr. Ravina spent four years at NINDS/NIH where he was responsible for an innovative program of phase II clinical trials in Parkinson's disease, as well as having oversight of clinical trials in stroke and ALS. Dr. Ravina is a PI or a member on the steering committee for several phase I, II and III clinical trials and chairs two independent DSMBs, including the NIA sponsored clinical trial of Rosiglitazone in Mild Cognitive Impairment. Dr. Ravina has become a recognized expert in clinical trials in movement disorders. He has published numerous articles and book chapters. Dr. Ravina has also lectured by invitation both nationally and world wide. He is an editorial board member of Clinical Neuropharmacology and a reviewer for the FDA Orphan Product Division. Dr. Ravina brings valuable perspectives from both the sponsor side at NIH and from academic medicine and collaborations with industry.
