Pharmacy Technician University
Pharmacy technicians play a vital role in supporting pharmacists with critical tasks related to medication dispensing and patient care. Pharmacy technicians ensure the safe and efficient use of medications. Their responsibilities include dispensing new prescriptions, refilling orders, packing and labeling prescriptions, managing medication inventory, preparing both nonsterile and sterile compounded medications, medication delivery and refills to patient units, communicating with patients, processing insurance claims, and helping patients navigate insurance coverage challenges. Pharmacy technicians work directly under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and utilize pharmacy technologies, including robotics and automated dispensing systems, to process medication orders.
