1. Sign into MyNCBI account here https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/myncbi/
2. There are multiple third party login options as seen on the right here.
- Using UR NetID: When you click on more login options, you can add the University of Rochester as a login provider. This will allow you to use your UR credentials. Note that if you change your institution, you will no longer be able to use the UR credentials.
- Some tasks on NIH or eRA systems require you to have a two-factor authentication – This requires you to have a third-party login (Login.gov or UR login account)
- As you continue to build your online research portfolio, you will also be required to associate MyNCBI with your other accounts. This will ensure not only security but also allow you to seamlessly populate your biographical data between these systems – creating a stronger research profile!
1. Login to MyNCBI https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/myncbi/

1. ScienCV is an application inside NCBI and can be accessed through MyNCBI.
2. NIH requires all PIs to certify their Biosketch and Other Support documents on ScienCV from May 2025
3. When you log in to MyNCBI, you will see a portlet to create a ScienCV.
4. You can create multiple documents by manually adding information OR automated data feed from your eRA commons and ORCID iD accounts.
5. To populate with information from these accounts, you will first need to link your MyNCBI with those accounts (in the screenshot below, I have linked my NCBI account with my UR account and eRA commons account).
6. This can be done under Account Settings in your MyNCBI\
7. Now, it is time to build the Biosketch!
8. This tutorial from NCBI walks you through the creation of a SciENcv - My NCBI Help - NCBI Bookshelf
9. If you have specific questions, contact the Surgery Research Office! You can add us as a delegate (under account settings) so we can assist with it.
1.This is a very quick process!
2.Submit this form: Register - ORCID
3.An ORCID record and account unique to you will be created that is used with NIH and grants.gov to link publications to grants. Most importantly, it saves you time! When you are getting ready to submit a paper or a grant.
4.If you use your UR email address to register, your ORCID ID will automatically be linked to the University. This means the institution can look up your research activity using your ORCID ID.
5.Note: When registering, set your visibility settings to Everyone or Trusted parties. This will ensure that the information is shared between systems like NCBI and eRA commons profile (after you link them).
