URMC / Research and Academic Career Training of Deaf Scholars

Rochester Postdoc Partnership

The Rochester Postdoc Partnership advances the research and academic careers of Deaf and hard of hearing (Deaf/HH) scientists. Our program aims to develop a diverse group of highly trained biomedical scientists to address the nation’s biomedical workforce needs. Offering up to three years of postdoctoral experience, we rigorously train and support the career advancement of our scholars, preparing them for independent academic careers that support the biomedical research enterprise.

Our program provides ample teaching opportunities and rich biomedical research training that provides trainees with the skills they need to manage their own labs. Learn more from our program faculty and alumni.

What Sets Us Apart

Our Program

We are truly one of a kind. The Rochester Postdoc Partnership is the only program in the U.S. specifically designed to foster postdoctoral training of Deaf/HH trainees in the biomedical sciences.

Our Institutions

URMC and RIT/NTID form a hub of excellence for Deaf/HH scholars and researchers, with exceptional resources and strong institutional partnerships creating a vibrant community environment.

Our Community

Rochester boasts one of the largest per capita Deaf populations in the world and is big enough to offer an array of cultural, recreational and leisure activities, yet small enough to live affordably and navigate easily.
