Translational Research Day
Translational Research Day is an annual celebration of innovative research supported by the UR Clinical & Translational Science Institute. Researchers from across URMC gather to present their translational research findings in the laboratory, clinic, and community contexts. Learn about their work to develop interventions that improve the health of individuals and communities and discover how UR CTSI programs and services can support collaboration and research.
Each year, researchers of all levels of experience are invited to attend, especially those interested in grant opportunities, professional development, and collaboration in the field of translational research.

- Introduction and Welcome from Co-Directors Karen Wilson, MD, MPH and Martin Zand, MD, PhD (15 minutes)
- Don’t be the best. (Be the only): Mid-career reflections on funding and impact. Discover and highlight your uniqueness when planning and funding projects for public health impact. Professor Tony Pisani, Robert G. Holloway KL2 Alumni Lectureship Recipient will share lessons from 10 years of consistent extramural funding since his KL2, with a particular focus on his most recent translational research projects and collaborations. (30-45 minutes, includes Q&A)

- If you build it, they will (not necessarily) come! A quick introduction to Dissemination and Implementation (D&I) Science. Dissemination and Implementation (D&I) Science is a dynamic and evolving field dedicated to closing the gap between research and real-world (you might have heard that it takes about 17 years for evidence to change practice). It explores the strategies and methods needed to ensure that evidence-based innovations effectively and equitably reach the intended end-users (like clinicians, patients, community members), barriers individuals and organizations face to adopt new behaviors, and how we can facilitate and evaluate these processes. By studying the best ways to translate research into action, D&I Science empowers professionals and organizations to make informed decisions, implement good interventions, and de-implement the bad ones! It's the key to ensuring that research truly benefits society. | 2-7520 CEL Classroom
- RESIN Mock NIH Study: UR CTSI’s Rochester Early-Stage Investigator Network will hold a mock NIH Study Section, peeling back the curtain in a review format nearly identical to that used during an NIH study section. | 2-7534 CEL Classroom
- TBS Three-minute Thesis Translations (3MT2): Rapid, three-minute explanations of TBS trainee thesis projects and how they are translational in nature. | 2-7536 CEL Classroom
