Inpatient Occupational Therapy (OT)
What is Inpatient Occupational Therapy?
Inpatient occupational therapy involves providing therapy services to individuals who are admitted to a hospital or other healthcare facility and require intensive rehabilitation or assistance with daily activities during their stay. Our inpatient occupational therapists work with patients who may be recovering from surgery, illness, injury, or other medical conditions that limit their ability to perform everyday tasks.
UR Medicine's Approach
Occupational therapy in the hospital setting helps patients regain independence with functional tasks to safely transition to the next level of care. Occupational therapy may be provided within the inpatient acute care units or as a part of the inpatient rehabilitation program.

What Sets Us Apart?
The goals of UR Medicine's inpatient occupational therapy include helping patients regain independence in activities of daily living, such as dressing, bathing, eating, and grooming, as well as improving mobility, strength, coordination, and cognitive function. Our therapists may also provide education and training to patients and their families on adaptive techniques, equipment use, and home modifications to support continued recovery and function after discharge from the hospital. Inpatient occupational therapy is provided as part of a multidisciplinary team approach to comprehensive patient care.
