Welcome to the website for the Rochester Summer Research Training Institute with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Scientists.  The RSRTI is a joint program of the University of Rochester and the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), with funding from the National Institute of General Medical Science (NIGMS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The RSRTI 2017 is hosted on the UR campus in the Saunders Research Building, home to clinical and translational science research and research training.

The goal of the Rochester Summer Research Institute is to advance the success of deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in biomedical and behavioral sciences research careers. The Institute is open to undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral students, faculty and their mentors.  We have an exciting program including a distinguished group of speakers, interactive poster sessions, small group breakout sessions and opportunities for networking.

Abstracts

A poster session will highlight the research carried out by undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and faculty attending the Rochester Summer Research Training Institute.  Applicants are encouraged to submit abstracts on all aspects of research in biomedical and behavioral sciences, biostatistics, or population sciences (public health, epidemiology, community, and/or health disparities research).  Abstracts from Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (D/HH) trainees and faculty in the biomedical and behavioral sciences or abstracts from mentors about best practices for working with and mentoring D/HH individuals are encouraged.

Monetary awards will be presented at the end of the symposium for the best poster presentations.
