Dermatology Residency Program
Our program's philosophy is for residents and faculty to work closely together to deliver the best possible care of patients with common and unusual skin diseases. We have a diverse faculty with expertise across the gamut of dermatology sub-specializations, several of whom have dual appointments in the medical center. Our faculty are recognized nationally and serve prominent positions in major academic associations.
Integration of the clinical and research areas of Dermatology by advancement of knowledge through basic, clinical and policy research is a strong feature of our program. All aspects of training are carefully supervised by our committed faculty in preparation for successful dermatologic practice. Our residents gain essential knowledge, technical expertise, critical reasoning skills and the ability to work as part of a team with ancillary staff. Upon graduation, our residents are able to practice independently in a variety of settings and are able to pursue interests in research, clinical and administrative practice.

What Our Graduates Say...
"From the moment I arrived at UofR Derm as a rotating away medical student, I knew this was a special place. Not only were the faculty renowned experts and researchers in various specialties of skin disease, but everyone I met was kind, supportive, and dedicated to teaching in a nurturing manner. The residents and faculty seemed to be having fun and enjoying their days. Most of all, I chose URMC because it is the kind of learning environment I knew would prepare me to become the best version of physician I could be."
Dr. Elizabeth Cusick (Chief Resident, Graduate)
Mohs Surgeon, University of Iowa
"When I interviewed at UofR, I was struck by how close-knit and down-to-earth the residents and faculty were. I wanted to come here not only for the great educational opportunity, but also because I could sense that the department was much more like a family than anything else. Now that I have been here for 2 years, I can verify that this is truly the case! "
