Situational awareness is the practice of being purposely aware of your surroundings and spotting a potential threat, so you are not caught off guard. It's not about living in fear—it's about being a savvy observer so you can act proactively instead of reactively. Many professionals, like healthcare workers, police officers, airline pilots, and teachers, are trained in this skill, but anyone can learn it!

 

While the odds of facing something extreme like a terrorist attack are very low, staying alert in crowded or unfamiliar places can boost your safety and give you a little extra peace of mind. Simple practices, like noting where the emergency exits are, can make a big difference. It's a small step that helps you stay prepared and confident.
