Fellow Perspectives
My year at URMC was an awesome, well-rounded year. Both the cardiac surgery and anesthesia faculty had interests in allowing me to reach my maximum potential. There were equal and ample opportunities to do cases on my own to refine my intraoperative abilities, as well as working with residents to further my skills as an educator. I felt well prepared to start as a new attending at a busy academic center.

I was impressed with the variety and complexity of structural heart and heart failure cases. Everyone was approachable and invested in my education.

The adult cardiothoracic fellowship at University of Rochester is a perfect mix of education and autonomy. There is a diverse faculty with many different approaches to echocardiography and patient care, ample opportunity to see a wide variety of pathology, as well as the ability to learn without being relied upon for the service to function. The fellowship more than adequately prepares you for either private practice or academics, and can provide any resource you need for either career path.
