Advanced Degrees

Obtainment of an advanced degree is not a requirement of the CFP fellowship but we do encourage fellows to pursue coursework in an advanced degree with a an emphasis on the Masters in Clinical Investigation. The MSCI is a 31-credit course of study designed to enhance your clinical studies, improve evidence based clinical decision making, and help you to evaluate health care services.

For those with a strong interest in a research career, a variety of Master’s programs and certificate programs can be obtained during the fellowship through the graduate schools at the University of Rochester. If you have an interest in education, there is a Masters in Health Professions Education as well as Advanced Certificates in Online Teaching or in Program Evaluation.

Tuition reimbursement at the University will cover 95% of the course expenses and the Complex Family Planning Fellowship will cover the remainder through an education fund.

All advanced degree courses require significant planning to assure that these fit and work into the fellowship structure. Planned coursework and discussions around degrees should be initiated early on with the fellowship director and will require separate application and acceptance into these programs of study.
