Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship

Why Choose Our Program?

The Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Program at URMC is a top-tier training program with emphasis on clinical and interventional skills, along with a focus on clinical electrophysiology research. Training in a wide range of cardiac electrophysiologic and pacing procedures is provided, including complex catheter ablation for arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation, typical and atypical atrial flutters as well as ventricular tachycarrhythmias.  Fellowship training will include implantation and management of a variety of cardiac implantable electronic devices such implantable cardioverter defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization devices. Fellows will gain experience in device and lead management topics including laser lead extraction. Our close affiliation with the faculty group at the Clinical Cardiology Research Center provides an excellent opportunity to conduct research using a variety of existing databases from the series of MADIT trial, RAID trial, and the International Long QT Registry.

Our fellows enjoy the collegiality of the faculty, and will find Rochester and its surroundings an affordable mid-sized city with plenty of recreational opportunities.

Life of a Fellow

Our emphasis on work/life balance is an important reason fellows choose URMC. A focus on trainees' well-being enables you to learn and thrive in Rochester.

What our fellows say...

I feel very fortunate to have trained at the University of Rochester. This program is best suited to trainees who are self-motivated learners and desire an Electrophysiology fellowship program that emphasizes procedural experience.  During my two year training experience, I found the program had several great qualities that should motivate any applicant to choose the University of Rochester, including excellent faculty of physician teachers and researchers, collegial atmosphere, three dedicated electrophysiology labs with three 3D electroanatomic mapping systems, Stereotaxis remote magnetic navigation system, access to all CIED manufacturers, large procedural volume, and supportive ancillary staff."
