Welcome from the Program Director
Tanya Bruckel, M.D.
Welcome to the University of Rochester Gastroenterology Division and the Gastroenterology Fellowship Training Program. Our program is a fully accredited 3-year training program with a primary emphasis on providing excellent training in clinical Gastroenterology (GI) and Hepatology. A robust breadth and depth of exposure to patient cases at the University of Rochester provides a comprehensive of the national core curriculum in Gastroenterology and Hepatology training. Our clinical faculty includes several therapeutic endoscopists, transplant hepatologists, and IBD specialists, as well as general gastroenterologists.
The University of Rochester is the only tertiary care facility in the region, providing exposure for the GI trainee to a busy emergency department; intensive care units in medicine, surgery, cardiovascular and pulmonary medicine, and burn/trauma; bone marrow and solid organ transplantation of kidney, liver and heart including a dedicated liver transplant service; and overall a rich exposure to a highly diverse patient population. The clinical and endoscopic exposure is top-notch, and the environment in which to live and train cannot be beat!
