Infectious Diseases Fellowship
Why Choose Our Program?
The University of Rochester’s Infectious Diseases Program offers world-class training to a highly diverse group of fellows every year.
Our fellows are able to see and manage bread and butter infectious diseases such as Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia along with more complex diseases such as MDR-pseudomonas and AIDS related opportunistic infections.
An experienced and dedicated faculty help guide our fellows through not only clinical infectious diseases but a vast array of research opportunities in antimicrobial stewardship, vaccinology, STI epidemiology/management, emerging infectious diseases, and the human microbiome.
Lastly, our fellows are able to enjoy everything Rochester and Upstate NY has to offer in their free time from having lunch on the Erie Canal to hiking Letchworth State Park!

Flexible Curriculum
There is flexibility in the program, and it is not uncommon for fellows to tailor tracks to fit their needs during training as their learning objectives and career goals evolve.
Mentor Relationships
Our fellows most commonly reference the personal relationships and valuable mentoring they receive as one of the top reasons why they would recommend URMC.
Life of a Fellow
Our emphasis on work/life balance is an important reason fellows choose URMC. A focus on trainees' well-being enables you to learn and thrive in Rochester.
What Our Fellows are Saying
I chose the University of Rochester because it is at the cutting edge of the infectious disease research, specifically HIV, vaccines, and influenza. There are opportunities to explore and train in all the crucial areas of ID including HIV, STD, transplant, antibiotics stewardship, infection prevention, and travel medicine.... I chose UR because of the friendly environment and of course the beauty of the city.
