Fellow Life
Quality of life is very important to us! Our fellows have significant input into their schedules so that personal and family priorities are respected while still permitting trainees to participate fully in all that our program has to offer. In addition to our Program Evaluation Committee sessions, program leaders meet with the fellows every other month to maintain an open dialogue about any concerns.
Our fellows also enjoy socializing together in their free time, with trainees from different programs often becoming good friends.

You get to do many high-end surgeries and truly learn a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to cancer. The training prepared me for my career as a surgical oncologist where I perform regional therapies, robotics, and other unique procedures including breast cryoablation. The faculty really care about your education and success, are great role models, and continue to collaborate when you move on. Truth be told, I was a little apprehensive about moving to Buffalo, but I was happily surprised. The city is revitalized with many things to do – sports, restaurants, food trucks, outdoor festivals and fairs. Yes, the winters can be a little rough, but then the winter activities start – skiing, skating, even curling. My family and I loved it, and now my kids miss the snow!
I absolutely loved my time at Roswell Park. The fellowship is second to none to prepare you for a career in complex surgical oncology...Equally important, there are so many opportunities for research at all levels, including outcomes and disparities research, basic and translational sciences, and clinical trials. These opportunities set the foundation for my KL2."
