The University of Rochester Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine trains exceptional residents for practice in the rapidly evolving field of Pathology.
Residents are integral physician-members of our team, which is dedicated to serving a diverse patient population throughout western New York in an expanding regional healthcare model.
Residents are provided great breadth and depth of exposure to all fields in Pathology. With an Anatomic Pathology subspecialty model, strong Clinical Pathology training and diverse elective opportunities, residents can personalize their educational experience to prepare them for any future subspecialty or practice setting.
Residents participate in active research programs and projects to improve standards of practice, with the goal of developing pathologists who will drive the future of innovation in pathology.
The motto of the University is "Meliora", meaning "ever better." The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine trains residents to become the pathologists of the future that will continuously aim to be ever better.

There are multiple Pathology fellowship options available for Clinical and Anatomic Pathology.
