What is the deadline for application?
December 1st. Late applications make scheduling interviews difficult, and most applicants will have submitted their applications by early November.
Does your program include the preliminary year?
Yes! The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program is a four-year categorical program in PM&R that includes PGY1.
When and how does your program notify applicants about interviews?
Anytime between October and December the Program will send an email to invite an applicant for an interview.
Do you accept Foreign Medical Graduates?
Yes, we accept international graduates who satisfy our application criteria. In addition, the NRMP requires applicants participating in the Match to possess ECFMG certification or eligibility which includes passing Parts 1 and 2 CS and CK of the USMLE.
What type of visa do you accept?
The University of Rochester training programs accept only J-1 visas sponsored through the ECFMG.
What are your USMLE score requirements?
A passing score on USMLE Step 1 is required before an interview will be granted. There is no specific cutoff passing score; applicants are considered based on merit on an individual basis.
Do you have a graduation cutoff date?
Graduation from medical school should be within the last three to five years.
Do you require clinical experience in the United States?
No. If you do have US clinical experience, please include this in your application information.
Does your program offer a pre-match?
No. We do not offer pre-match positions.
How many positions are available through the Match?
We have three PGY1 positions available in the Match.
How many people apply to your program?
We receive approximately 350 to 400 applications per year.
