Why did you choose Rochester for Graduate School?
I chose Rochester because not only is there extremely interesting and relevant research, but the graduate student community is tight knit and everyone was so welcoming. When I visited for interview weekend, all the grad students spoke so highly of their experience here and that really had an impact on my decision to attend.

Why did you choose Rochester for Graduate School?
I had two reasons for choosing this program. One was the research happening within the department that covers a broad range of topics, so I would have more opportunities to learn about other areas of science. Additionally, out of all the schools I visited, this one had a strong sense of community and collaboration.
What do you enjoy most about the Program?
I really enjoy the supportive environment that we have here. Knowing that I can reach out to anyone in the department for advice on research questions or professional development has been a huge benefit.
What are your favorite things to do in Rochester/surrounding area?
I have two young children that take up my time outside of lab. My favorite things to do in Rochester are the things I can do with them like: the Seneca Park Zoo, Lamberton Conservatory, and The Strong Museum of Play (all are great to visit even without kids!).

Why did you choose Rochester for Graduate School?
I chose the University of Rochester to pursue my PhD because of the tight-knit department, which creates a highly collaborative environment. I also chose this program because graduate students drive many of the labs, so there are more opportunities for students to make their marks on projects.
What do you enjoy most about the Program?
I enjoy the diverse range of research performed by the labs in the program tied together by the theme of RNA biology. This provides an opportunity to learn about new techniques and areas of biology in the context of a rapidly emerging field. I have also enjoyed the access to the many resources that are available to graduate students at the University of Rochester.
What are your favorite things to do in Rochester/surrounding area?
I enjoy the many wonderful local restaurants Rochester has to offer. When the weather is nice, I also enjoy kayaking. Being situated in the Finger Lakes region, there are many beautiful spots to spend a day
