Welcome to the URMC PREP Program!
The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry understands the importance of diverse student representation. The Post-baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) offers a 1-year biomedical research training opportunity to students from historically excluded and underrepresented groups who want to pursue a research doctorate. Our goal is to prepare students for successful entry into competitive PhD programs, as well as for careers as outstanding research scientists and leaders in the biomedical community.

What Our Alumni Say...
Creativity, confidence, and tenacity are skills that are instilled in eager scientists who go through the PREP program. I had the opportunity to develop my own research project from the ground up, which is now my thesis work, in a well renowned lab. What makes PREP at the URSMD unique is the team behind the program, university and community wide recognition of the program, and the skill sets that each student gains. Deep compassion and commitment towards each student's success is apparent and is what I accredit to my success as a current graduate student in neuroscience."
Victoria Popov, 2019-2020 PREP alumnus and current URSMD Neuroscience PhD student
