Your combination of intelligence, empathy and curiosity made you a

Virtual Interview Attestation:

In order to protect the fairness and integrity of the University of Rochester School of Medicine (URSOM) application and interview processes, as an interviewee to our school, you are prohibited from:

  • Recording or copying the interview in any way.
  • Disclosing in any way and through any medium, any of the questions posed during the URSOM interview process to anyone outside of the URSOM Office of Admissions.  Sharing the questions/or answers you gave with other individuals may provide an unfair advantage to applicants who have not yet interviewed.
  • Receiving assistance, guidance, or feedback in any way during the interview, including the use of AI software.

If the University of Rochester School of Medicine learns of any breach of the above conditions, your application may be denied, your acceptance may be rescinded, or you may face other student conduct or professionalism violation actions, if matriculated.

Interviews

At least one interviewer will be a member of our faculty and the other may be a medical student. An average interview lasts approximately 45-minutes but varies according to interviewers and applicants. The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry conducts application blind interviews. This means your interviewers will only have access to the pre-interview materials you submitted.

Small Group Discussion

In addition to one-on-one interviews, you will have the opportunity to participate in a small group discussion with other applicants interviewing with you that day. This Problem Based Learning (PBL) exercise is facilitated by a member of the admissions community. Discussion will center around an ethical issue in medicine and no preparation is needed. This format is a way to help us get to know you better, introduce you to a format we use regularly in the medical school curriculum and introduce you to your potential future colleagues.

Pop-Up Cafes

You will be invited to our virtual pop-up cafes which provide opportunities to learn more about Rochester and include our pre-filmed tour. Attendance is optional and does not impact your admissions decision. In order to protect the confidentiality of our applicants we do not record these sessions.

Pop-Up Cafe topics include:

  • Housing
  • Life in Rochester
  • Curriculum
  • Pathways
  • Affinity Groups
  • Interest Groups
  • UR Well and Street Outreach
