Spine Tumor
Spine tumors are abnormal masses of tissue growing in or around the spinal cord. Often, spine tumors are the result of a transmission of cells from a primary growth located somewhere else in the body (breast, prostate or lung).
Symptoms — pain, weakness, decreased sensitivity, and/or incontinence — are often the result of spinal cord or root nerve compression and/or a weakening of the vertebral bone structure. If a patient has been diagnosed with cancer in another part of the body, back pain should be evaluated with a bone scan to check for spinal metastasis.
