Stroke Rehabilitation

Restoring Hope

We Believe Rehabilitation is More Than Restoring Lost Function; It's About Restoring Hope.

Life after a stroke can be difficult. Our Stroke Center team is committed to helping patients deal with the many lingering effects of stroke such as depression, pain, and loss of function to improve their total quality of life.

The Stroke Center and the University of Rochester Medical Center offer a wide variety of rehabilitation services for stroke patients, ranging from inpatient services to a variety of outpatient therapies.

Inpatient Rehabilition

Treatment for a stroke begins in the hospital "acute care" setting. Early therapy helps recovery of lost function. Because stroke effects are different depending on what part of the brain has been affected, our interdisciplinary team includes physical and occupational therapists and speech/language pathologists.

What you do in rehabilitation depends on what you need to become successful upon discharge. Our team will work with you and your family to establish concrete goals and aim for an appropriate date to return home. We'll also teach your family how to assist with therapeutic activities. And we'll work closely with you to ensure a seamless transition of care to outpatient rehabilitation services or to a rehabilitation facility.

Outpatient Rehabilitation

Outpatient rehabilitation services are provided through the Strong Rehabilitation Center at Clinton Crossings.
