Mt. Vernon Closure Dates and Saturday Work
The tower crane will be coming down the weeks of February 20 and 27. Mt. Vernon Ave. will be closed to non-resident traffic starting Thursday, February 23 to set up the crane used to disassemble the big crane and remain closed through the weekend, into the week of February 27. Extensive signage will be placed to inform drivers of the closure and alternate routes, following all City of Rochester regulations for road closure. Weekend disassembly work will also take place on Saturday, February 25 only.
Safety is a top priority for the crane disassembly. The disassembly crew will follow an exacting process with well-defined safety protocols and multiple engineering groups will be reviewing the disassembly process throughout this part of the project. This work is weather dependent, and further updates will be provided via the blog if this work is delayed.
Crews will be onsite this Saturday, February 11 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. working on installing fiber cement panels on the outside of the building.
During the week, crews will be working inside to finish mechanicals, drywall framing, and painting. Outside, the tower crane is still being used to move materials from the ground to various floors of the building. Window and siding installation continues, as well as roofing on the 7th floor.
Crews are anticipating bringing the site work up to grade shortly to allow for settlement over the winter. This will generate minimal vibrations due to bulldozer movement, static roller and dump truck tailgates closing. Vibration monitoring will be in effect.
