Mt. Vernon Ave. Water Main Construction

Starting on Friday 11/2, contractors will be working on a new hospital water main on Mt. Vernon Ave. The northbound lane of Mt. Vernon (where it intersects with the hospital driveway) will be closed on Friday because of construction and there will be flagmen to direct traffic. Friday construction will take place between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. A few houses will also be without water between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. while construction is underway. The addresses are 105 Rockingham St. and 332 – 382 Mt. Vernon Ave. The effected houses have been notified by the water department. The construction will involve trucks, excavators, pavement cutting equipment, and jackhammers. Neighbors will hear noise from this equipment and some dust will be present.

On Saturday, the contractors will be working in the southbound lane and the hospital driveway off of Mt. Vernon. Saturday construction will take place between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. The contractors plan to have the line completely installed by late Saturday afternoon. Restoration of the surfaces will occur over a couple of additional Saturdays (weather dependent).
