Dr. Keely Dwyer-Matzky New Medical Staff President
Keely Dwyer-Matzky, M.D., M.S., was confirmed as President of the Highland Hospital Medical Staff at a meeting in January. Roan Glocker, M.D., will serve as President-elect and Corey Romesser, M.D., as Secretary/Treasurer. Dr. Dwyer-Matzky has served Highland for more than 20 years and became involved in medical staff leadership at the suggestion of Dr. Robert McCann because of her passion for process improvement and engaging with teams for the betterment of the hospital.
“Highland is a special place to me,” said Dr. Dwyer-Matzky. “The hospital has embraces new technology and has grown in the delivery of high quality, cutting edge care, but we remain committed to our culture of being a true community hospital where we emphasize compassion for our patients, their families and each other.” As part of the medical staff leadership team, she is grateful she has had the opportunity to participate at the table as Highland progressed through the pandemic and in the transition to move Highland forward.
Dr. Dwyer-Matzky is looking forward to in person collaboration with others on the medical staff, leadership team, nursing staff and other health care professionals in the hospital and reconnect in person after years of Zoom meetings. As a medical staff leader she hopes to focus on process improvement and to look at how advancing technologies benefit and affect the whole team. “The resilience of staff and faculty has been amazing,” said Dr. Dwyer-Matzky. “As we move on rapidly we also need to keep a focus on wellness as we work.”
The medical staff leadership team will host more social events in the spring to reengage members and will promote learning opportunities as well. Dr. Dwyer-Matzky is hoping to organize collaborative grand grounds across disciplines. Dr. Dwyer-Matzky hopes to carry on the work of Tim Lum, M.D., Past-President. “Dr. Lum left an indelible mark on Highland at the height of the pandemic and was an amazing role model for me as Past President of the medical staff,” she said. “I feel very fortunate to be in this position and collaborate with others on the team and throughout the hospital.”
