About Us
The Department of Imaging at the University of Rochester Medical Center is dedicated to excellence in education, research, and clinical care within a leading academic health institution. Our faculty members are nationally recognized leaders in their subspecialties. Our primary hospital complex includes Strong Memorial Hospital with a Level I Trauma Center and an established transplant program, the Golisano Children’s Hospital, and the Wilmot Cancer Center. We also have multiple outpatient imaging sites to provide access to care. We serve the Greater Rochester area, Finger Lakes region, and areas south of Rochester through our affiliate partners which include FF Thompson, Highland Hospital, St. James Hospital, Noyes Health, Jones Memorial Hospital, Geneva General Hospital, and Soldiers & Sailors Hospital. We are national leaders in Quality & Safety.
Our enterprise works seamless with a unified new Sectra PACS system. We have cutting edge technology including dual-energy CT, advanced cardiac CT/MRI/PET, 3D ultrasound, modernized MRI scanners, PET/CT, and the region’s only PET/MRI scanner. We are one of the strongest artificial intelligence programs in the nation with at least 12 pixel-based AI programs in use and many workflow-based algorithms as well. We value outreach to our communities through a mobile mammography van, a mobile stroke unit, and one of the nation's largest Lung Cancer Screening programs.
We highly value research with a long history of innovation, even back to the development of contrast materials and echocardiography. Ultrasound and optics are a significant area of strength. We are also national leaders in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
