International Visiting Scholars
The purpose of this scholarship program is to improve imaging knowledge and practice at foreign medical institutions. Candidates must be employed by and planning to return to an international institution. There is no tuition for this program. Visiting scholars will be in residence for a 6-to-12-month period in the University Imaging Sciences department in one of the participating subspecialty divisions: Cardiothoracic, Neuroimaging, and Pediatric Imaging. International Visiting Scholars are expected to be present during business hours and actively engage in the learning process. Scholars are encouraged to teach medical students and residents, attend daily conferences and tumor boards. Additionally, there will be an expectation of clinical research under the guidance of mentoring faculty, which will hopefully lead to robust manuscript submissions and national/international conference presentations.
NOTE: Program participants will not be granted clinical privileges or have a medical license; therefore, they will not have hands-on patient contact.
Program Requirements
Requirements for application:
- Must be an M.D., D.O., or hold another physician degree equivalent.
- Must have completed a residency in diagnostic radiology (US or international).

- This is a non-salaried observership position. The scholar must provide evidence of financial support during the visiting scholar period; typically, the salary is provided by the home institution or the national government of the scholar's country. The University of Rochester does not provide financial support for housing, travel, or living expenses. Scholars are evaluated monthly by faculty. The visiting scholarship may be terminated at the discretion of the program director should performance fall below expectations for professionalism or commitment by the scholar.
