Role Descriptions
operate high-tech imaging equipment to capture exact images for their patients. Techs prepare patients for imaging procedures, follow precise instructions for obtaining a quality image, and work with physicians to evaluate images.
produce cross-sectional images of the human anatomy to assist radiologists in diagnosing a wide range of diseases and disorders.
produce images to detect breast tissue abnormalities in order to identify tumors or cancers early when they are most treatable. They operate a specialized X-ray imaging device and ensure that the X-ray images they produce are of excellent quality for clear and accurate interpretation. In addition, mammographers answer questions patients may have about the procedure.
perform tests for diagnosis and medical research. Using imaging equipment, they record images inside patients’ bodies after administering small doses of radioactive drugs.
use fluoroscopy or other imaging modalities to guide procedures, such as administering contrast dyes, that allow providers to see the vessels and identify issues. Radiation techs interact with patients, explaining the procedure and any radiation risks.
operate MRI scanners, monitor patient safety and comfort, and ensure the quality of images. They also deliver intravenous contrast doses and educate patients on MRI procedures.
duties include: Preparing patients for procedures by taking a patient’s history and answering any questions about the procedure; Preparing and maintaining imaging equipment; Applying a gel to aid the sound waves’ ability to show the inside of the body; Operating equipment to get diagnostic images of areas in the patient’s body ; Analyzing the images to check for quality and adequate coverage of the area needed for diagnosis; Recognizing the difference between normal and abnormal images; Analyzing images to provide preliminary findings for physicians.
