Certified Nurse Midwife
Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM) are registered nurses who have completed a graduate program in Midwifery. CNMs have collaborative relationships with physicians in the event of a medical problem but are independent providers of health care and can write prescriptions, and have admitting privileges to hospitals. Midwives provide prenatal care, labor and delivery support, postpartum support, annual gynecological exams, contraception, breast exams and evaluation and treatment of common gynecological problems, menstrual irregularities, menopausal management and referrals for mammograms.
