Dongmei Li Lab
Welcome to the Dongmei Li Lab
Genetic and epigenetic differential analyses: Current available statistical analyses methods for differential analyses in genetic and epigenetic studies usually give very different results even for the same data set. One of the focuses of Dr. Li's lab is to develop more robust methods for genetic and epigenetic differential analyses.
Secondary data analyses of national survey data: Large national survey data such as the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) and the Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) national survey data are usually used to examine the association of risk behaviors such as tobacco product use and health symptoms or diseases. Dr. Li's lab apply advanced statistical methods to analyze national survey data to study associations of risk behaviors and health symptoms and diseases in public health.
Social media data analyses: Social media platforms such as Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook etc. have been widely used for users to express their opinions and experiences. Dr. Li's lab applies natural language processing techniques and artificial intelligence to study the public perceptions and top topics of tobacco products and the impact of government regulations of tobacco products on users' perceptions. Similar studies were also investigated for the COVID-19 pandemic using social media data. Potential associations of tobacco product use and health symptoms and problems were also investigated using social media data.
