Working in the Lab
Post-Doctoral Fellows
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dmitri Ermolenko at the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics & Center for RNA Biology, School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Rochester.
We use single-molecule fluorescent microscopy and biochemical methods to study how structural dynamics of the ribosome and ribosomal ligands enable protein synthesis. In addition to studying ribosomal translation in bacteria and eukaryotes, we investigate the folding and dynamics of structured mRNA molecules, including mRNAs containing riboswitches or structural elements that induce programmed ribosome frameshifting. Applicants must have a recent Ph.D. and expertise in molecular biology/biophysics with publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
Applicants with experience in RNA biochemistry and/or single-molecule FRET are encouraged to apply. Please submit a statement of research interests and experience, and a current curriculum vitae to Dr. Dmitri Ermolenko.
Graduate Students
Our lab is currently recruiting graduate students. Motivated candidates who are interested in studying mechanisms of bacterial and eukaryotic translation using ensemble and single-molecule fluorescent methods are encouraged to email Dr. Dmitri Ermolenko.
