Epilepsy Imaging Phenotypes (Gugger) Lab

Welcome to the Epilepsy Imaging Phenotypes (Gugger) Lab

We are interested in quantitative brain imaging and its clinical applications in neuroscience, particularly in epilepsy and traumatic brain injury. Much of this work utilizes structural and diffusion MRI as well as functional imaging modalities such as arterial spin labeling, functional MRI, and FDG-PET. The overarching goal of our research is to develop neuroimaging-based biomarkers that can be rapidly translated to the clinic to better characterize neurological disorders, predict outcomes, and ultimately lead to more effective therapies.

Current Projects

The two major focus areas of the lab are:

  1. Identification of individuals at high risk for epilepsy after traumatic brain injury
  2. Characterization of epilepsy phenotypes.

Both areas utilize multimodal neuroimaging including structural and diffusion MRI as well as functional imaging.
