Welcome to the Child Neurology Residency Program!
Thank you for your interest in our Child Neurology residency-training program at Golisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center. We hope you have the opportunity to visit us virtually and learn about our unique program. We combine a highly supportive, friendly, family-style atmosphere with a large and diverse patient population drawn from a population of approximately 5 million individuals in Upstate and Western New York, Northern Pennsylvania and beyond.
The department currently has about 140 faculty, and the child neurology division includes 20 primary faculty members and 10 associated faculty with diverse sub-specialty interests. Our faculty are incredibly down-to-earth, supportive, and are terrific teachers. We prize active learning, autonomy, and flexibility as cornerstones to quality graduate medical education.

We ensure all residents form strong personal relationships and receive valuable mentorship to help support career development and success.
Focus on Resident as Teacher
We provide ample opportunities for residents to learn the skills needed to develop their teaching skills, including the opportunity for education research.

What Our Residents Say...
"Having the opportunity to train with all the outstanding pediatric neurologists and staff at the University of Rochester has been incredible! Our program is close-knit and truly strives to not only provide excellent neurologic care but foster the well-being and professional development of its residents at the same time. Our faculty have been motivated from day one to identify opportunities that match our interests and future goals. Dr. Stone has been incredibly receptive to suggestions made to continually improve our program. We are so fortunate to have a program that is quick to make adjustments based on that brought forth by residents! We see a wide variety of child neurology from bread and butter to ultra rare disorders- getting to engage with the gamut of child neurology as leader of the team, which has been so formative! I have learned so much about becoming a confident neurologist through this wonderful group of mentors. I can't imagine having matched anywhere better for residency!"
