Education/Training

As one of the few Pediatric Movement Disorders training programs in the country, we offer a variety of education and training opportunities.

Child and Adult Neurology Residents
The University of Rochester Neurology Department has a rich history of excellence in education. We have three Child Neurology residents [JV1] and eight Adult Neurology residents every year. Both Child and Adult Neurology residents have the opportunity to rotate through pediatric movement disorders clinics during ambulatory rotations. Additionally, Child Neurology residents have the opportunity to participate in a dedicated pediatric movement disorders elective rotation. This elective includes:

  • Pediatric movement disorders clinics
  • Pediatric DBS clinics
  • Botulinum toxin clinics

In addition, residents on our elective will meet with our experts in pediatric movement disorders to discuss cases of interest and review pertinent articles.

Outside Rotators
As one of the few pediatric movement disorders programs in the region, we work with trainees outside of UR who have an interest in pediatric movement disorders. Individualized elective rotations are developed to meet the trainee’s goals. Opportunities may include:
Pediatric movement disorders clinics

  • Adult movement disorders clinics
  • Pediatric neurogenetics clinics
  • Pediatric and adult hereditary ataxia clinics
  • Pediatric botulinum toxin clinics
  • Cerebral Palsy clinics
  • Exposure to Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention in Tics (CBIT)
