Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship

Sarah Crimmins

Sarah Crimmins, M.D.
MFM Program Director

The Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Fellowship Program is an ACGME and ABOG accredited fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC). This is a three-year fellowship, with two fellows matched each year. Start date for program is August 1st.

We offer a strong balance of clinical MFM experiences in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as basic science and clinical research in an institution renown for its commitment to education and clinical care.

The program is designed to provide the graduate a balanced experience in clinical MFM, medical education, and clinical, translational, and basic science research. The goal of our program is to provide a comprehensive three-year educational experience to prepare fellows for a career in academic medicine.

Fellows participate in 18 months of clinical training including time with instructors from the divisions of MFM, genetics, family planning, and critical care. The equivalent of one year is spent pursuing research activities and preparing a thesis for defense. There are a remaining six months of elective time used for a combination of clinic and research depending on a particular fellow's goals and needs.

These educational activities are regularly reviewed for their educational value by the faculty and fellows. Fellows participate in formulating changes within the program to enhance its educational value. The fellowship program adheres to the guidelines and objectives outlined by ABOG and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship program at the University of Rochester Medical Center provides exceptional educational opportunities for fellows and prepares them for a career in clinical and academic medicine. Our program offers a comprehensive experience in the evaluation and treatment of complex pregnancy.

We sincerely hope you will consider the MFM fellowship at the University of Rochester and look forward to hearing from you!
